Leading with the Heart | Meet Audrey White, Principal of Potranco Elementary Audrey White Show Transcript you might be good thank you for encouraging me okay did you give a big smile I was lived in inner City so from Harlem New York and I was raised by my grandmother so she was really big about making sure we understood we were in a product of our environment and make drilled in us that education as your pathway to wherever and whatever you want to be and the teachers that I had I feel like were the influences that made me want to be in other kids' lives we were a community I'm at my school so relationships were really important for the kids and so that's really where I got my passion for mentoring more than anything and that's 1 thing I always remember is you know feeling like my teachers cared about me and wanted the best for me they understood the Dynamics of what a lot of us came from and so yeah that's why I feel like relationships and really big with that with my teacher staff and with kids I wanted my impact to be even greater than what it was so the beautiful thing about being in the classroom is yes you get to work with children and obviously that's why we're all here but then the desire that I had was to also impact the teachers and the staff that worked with the kids education is a very hard field to be in so I have a passion for motivating people um you know helping people find their strengths and so that's why I kind of moved into Administration was so that way I can work with the adults and that impact kids and I feel like my reach and my connections go even farther than what I had the ability to do when I was in the classroom I feel like it's an honor to serve the community that has poured into me right you know so starting here as a student teacher then transitioning at you know into being a teacher vice principal you know into my principalship I've always had the support of my community and so that's parents you know the teachers as well so I think it's a very unique opportunity that I've had that the same teachers and staff that have according to me I now get to pour into them so it's like an honor and a privilege for me to be able to serve this campus uh because they I wouldn't be here without the teachers and staff and the parents that are around me
